CONTEXT:
NSF Europe S.A. is a Belgian consultancy operating in the fields of food safety and quality management, in both the private and public sectors. The company was known as Euro Consultants for 25 years, until becoming part of NSF International (http://www.nsf.org) in 2016. Founded in 1944 and acting globally since 1990, NSF International is an independent public health and safety organisation committed to protecting and improving human health and the environment on a global scale.
NSF Europe is implementing EU Project Technical assistance to improve implementation of food safety
standards and disease crisis preparedness (EU Food Safety Project) and is looking for a Junior Non-Key
Expert for its local project office in the Turkish Cypriot part of Nicosia. The duration of the project is envisaged potentially until end September 2027.
The project aims to support the social and economic development of the TCc by strengthening the capacities of local bodies and contributing to improved food safety, public health, animal health and environmental protection, while mitigating the impact of potential transboundary animal diseases, particularly those posing an imminent threat.
He/She will work under the overall guidance of the project’s Team Leader.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the project’s key and non-key experts in the daily execution of their tasks, contributing to the implementation of the project activities onsite under Component I - Food Safety, with a main focus on the capacity building for ‘official controls’ along the Turkish Cypriot community food chain.
Assist in the process of categorisation of farms (commercial dairy, meat) and follow-up checks
Assist in the process of contribution to drafting protocols and procedures for collection of data -
necessary for food safety risk assessment; planning of risk-based controls; and EU aligned data reporting
Technical support and other work processes as per project activities and Team Leader’s instructions
REQUIREMENTS:
university degree in Veterinary Medicine or Agricultural Sciences or Food Science or Public Health
min 2 (two) years of general professional work experience
driving license
computer literacy - standard user
working knowledge of English and Turkish
very good verbal and written communication skills
specific working experience on international/EU projects is an asset
